This Wild West Tarot is an experiential art project, a collaboration between Photographer Big Braver, Designer Rowdy Roger Haskins, with a Concept originated by ol' Texbearjoe, who also created and manages ol' Lusty Rusty, the Cowboy Tarot Card reader for the project.
It shares a full Tarot Deck, in the spirit of the Old and the New West - the Wild West, providing a Gay, Erotic, Tarot-based guide to the past, present and future through readings and interaction with "Lusty Rusty"
Big Braver (b. California) is a photographer and filmmaker whose work focuses on under-represented individuals and communities. He began his career as a photojournalist and his images have appeared in Esquire, Newsweek, Taschen, Time, and many other books, magazines, and publications.
Big Braver’s photography has been collected and exhibited in museums and galleries including the International Center of Photography (ICP) in New York, PhotoAlliance San Francisco, Photographic Center NW, Bolinas Museum, Seattle Children’s Museum and Vesta, Los Angeles.
His documentary film David, In Brief (2016) and extra short film Blow Job (2020) have screened internationally.
Rowdy Roger is a theatrical and film designer whose work has been seen by many without the frame of celebrity.
He creates and oversees the visual aesthetics productions. Setting the tone, atmosphere, and style of his projects, shaping the overall look and feel of the story being told.
Texbearjoe is a noted anonymous internet personality, a presence for decades in the gay world, celebrating muscles, bears, eroticism and the endless possibilities of pleasure the world brings. He has more than two dozen books to his name covering his sexual life from the 80's to the 2020's, exploring the changes and surprises life brings.
He is also a major gay art collector, specializing in the works of REX, Jim French, Lou Thomas, Tom of Finland, and above all Bill Ward - all artists from the gay renaissance from 1972 until roughly 1982, a brief period of amazing exploration.
Texbearjoe as a digital guru and explorer has also created numerous gay digital experiences. One of the first to explore GPT-based AI tools, with which he has digitally extended and recreated the HIS-69 gay pulp fiction imprint with more than 65,000 generated full-volume books, years ahead of general awareness of the tools, and still unsurpassed in the ability to create end-to-end works of fiction with detailed, realistic, highly sexual and consistent characters across the span of a novel.
He has digitally remastered the works of Bill Ward, in the recently published volume "Bill Ward Drum", exploring the entire output of the "Drum" character from Drummer magazine. Likewise, he has digitally remastered the entire body of work of REX, and in collaboration with the artist has published a new five-volume series examining his art from the late 60's to the present day.
In 2019 he constructed the first of a series of gay entities to interact with, notably "Eroto" which performed spoken and text-based interactive Gay Erotic Tarot card readings for more than 20,000 individuals before retirement. The Entity in Wild West Tarot "Lusty Rusty" is the most recent version of his interactive gay erotic tarot system, integrated with the photography of Jeff Braverman and the design of Roger Haskins to create groundbreaking evocation of both time past, the spirt of gay pleasure without the baggage of the past, and using technology only barely understood to this day by even the most seasoned technical practitioners.
